Rivers Ex-HoS Nwaeke Denies Kidnapping Claims, Reveals Whereabouts

Former Rivers State Head of Service, George Nwaeke, has refuted reports that he was kidnapped and coerced into making public statements against Governor Sim Fubara.

Nwaeke clarified that he voluntarily traveled to Abuja to report himself and events in Rivers State to security agencies. His statement follows claims made by his wife, who had declared him missing and suggested that he might have been abducted and forced to speak under duress.

However, a new video surfaced on Saturday morning showing Nwaeke at Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, where he confirmed his location and dismissed the kidnapping allegations.

“My name is Frank Nwaeke, and I’m at Transcorp Hilton in Abuja. I arrived this morning from Port Harcourt to meet with security agencies and report certain issues in Rivers State that have been affecting me,” Nwaeke said.

He further explained that he resigned as Head of Service on Monday due to the ongoing situation in the state.

“After my press interview, I saw a video of my wife trending, where she was misled into believing that I had been kidnapped. They fed her false information and wrote a script for her to read,” he stated.

Nwaeke emphasized that his wife had no knowledge of his official duties, as they only discussed domestic and social matters.

“I want to set the record straight—I am not kidnapped. I am in Abuja, staying at Transcorp Hilton. Tomorrow morning, I will visit the relevant security agencies to formally report myself,” he added.

Explaining his decision to be in Abuja, he said, “Since Abuja houses the headquarters of all security agencies, I believe it is the safest place for me to make my report.”
