Popular Abia Monarch, Eze Ezekwesiri, Dies at 88

Eze Godwin Irononso Ezekwesiri, the Ochi 1 of Isuochi Ancient Kingdom in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, has passed away at the age of 88.
The revered monarch, who ascended the throne in 1974 as the first king of Isuochi Ancient Kingdom, ruled for 51 years, fostering peace and unity among the communities within his domain. His death was confirmed by his son, Ikedi Ezekwesiri, a former state legislator.
Reacting to the news, Abia State Governor Alex Otti expressed deep sorrow, describing the late monarch as a great leader whose wisdom and experience were invaluable to the younger generation.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Governor Otti praised Ezekwesiri for his contributions to the development of his kingdom and the state. He noted that the late monarch dedicated over five decades to promoting peace, unity, and security in Isuochi and Umunneochi as a whole.
The governor prayed for the peaceful repose of the traditional ruler’s soul and extended condolences to his family, the Isuochi community, and the entire Abia State.
