IPOB Reveals Group Behind Extrajudicial Killings in Imo State

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has alleged that the Biafra Liberation Army is responsible for the extrajudicial killings in the Mother Valley camp in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State. IPOB spokesman, Emma Powerful, made this claim in a statement on Friday, calling for an independent investigation into the killings.
Powerful commended security forces for dislodging the armed group that had operated in Orsu for over three years, accusing them of destabilizing the Southeast region and tarnishing IPOB’s reputation both locally and internationally. He alleged that the Biafra Liberation Army was recruited and armed by the Nigerian government to impersonate IPOB and the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
According to IPOB, the group used the prolonged detention of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, as a cover to justify its violent activities. The statement insisted that these actions were aimed at fabricating evidence against Kanu, who has been detained for nearly four years. IPOB maintained that it had consistently condemned the criminals through its media platforms and identified those involved in attacks within Orsu and its surroundings.
The statement questioned why it took over three years for security agencies to dismantle the armed group despite public knowledge of their hideout. IPOB expressed appreciation for the efforts to reclaim Orsu but reiterated its call for a thorough investigation into the killings.
