The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned Christiana Goka, a former Deputy Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, over allegations of misappropriating N6.3 million in public funds.

Goka, who also served as Head of the Department of Research Monitoring Information System at the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA), appeared before Justice J.A. Aina of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Kwali, Abuja, on a five-count charge related to fund misappropriation and providing false statements.

According to the charges, she allegedly diverted N5,164,656 meant for a 2017 management retreat in Dutse, Jigawa State. The ICPC also accused her of giving false information to investigators by denying receipt of N1 million, which had reportedly been returned to her on the directive of the then-DTCA Director General, the late Ambassador Abduljalil Suleiman.

At the trial on March 27, 2025, prosecution counsel David Nwaze presented two witnesses who testified and were cross-examined. The court granted Goka bail under the same conditions as her previous administrative bail after she pleaded not guilty.

Her bail terms require a surety employed in the Federal Republic of Nigeria at Grade Level 15 or above, residing in Abuja, with necessary identification and employment records.

Justice J.A. Aina adjourned the case for further proceedings.
