Court Dismisses Fraud Allegations Against Zinox Chairman, Wife, 11 others

A fraud case against Zinox Technologies chairman, Leo Stan Ekeh, his wife Chioma Ekeh, and 11 others has been dismissed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court. Justice Akpan Okon Ebong struck out the suit filed by senior lawyer Femi Falana (SAN), who claimed to be acting on a fiat from the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi.
The case was brought on behalf of Benjamin Joseph, CEO of Citadel Oracle Concept Limited, who alleged that the defendants were involved in the fraudulent diversion of ₦162 million related to a laptop supply contract with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). However, the judge ruled that the case was a gross abuse of court process, emphasizing that multiple courts and law enforcement agencies had previously reviewed and dismissed the allegations.
Justice Ebong criticized the persistence of the case, stating that the plaintiff had turned it into a campaign of persecution despite repeatedly failing to substantiate his claims in court. The court’s certified true copy of the judgment, dated March 20, 2025, concluded that the case (No. FCT/HC/CR/985/2024) lacked merit and was dismissed.
The judge also noted that no law enforcement agency had found merit in any of the allegations. He pointed out that the complainant had failed to appear in court to prove his claims when given the opportunity. Defense lawyer Chris Eze Ozims described the ruling as consistent with previous court decisions, reaffirming the baselessness of the allegations. Chief defense counsel Matthew Burkaa (SAN) called the verdict a victory for integrity and the rule of law.
