No fewer than 40,000 families in Borno State are set to benefit from the Aliko Dangote Food Intervention Programme as part of efforts to cushion economic hardship.

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, represented by the Director-General of Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Ali Abdullahi Isa, made this known at the official flag-off of the initiative in Maiduguri. He described the donation of 40,000 bags of 10kg rice by the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) as a significant intervention to support vulnerable families, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

“The generosity of the Aliko Dangote Foundation is a testament to its commitment to social welfare and the well-being of vulnerable communities. We remain deeply grateful to Alhaji Aliko Dangote and his team for their unwavering philanthropy,” the governor stated.

The initiative is part of ADF’s nationwide distribution of one million bags of rice, worth N16 billion, across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas. Speaking at the event, ADF representative Usman Muhammad reiterated the foundation’s dedication to improving the lives of Nigerians and supporting government efforts in poverty alleviation.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the donation, highlighting its impact on their daily survival. A displaced person, Aisha Modu, 50, said the rice would help ease her financial struggles, while Umaru Aliyu, 60, noted that it would sustain his six children, praying for continued blessings on the Aliko Dangote Foundation.
