Dangote Feeds Thousands, Donates 35,000 Bags of Rice to Katsina residents

The Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) has donated 35,000 bags of rice to support vulnerable residents of Katsina State as part of its ongoing nationwide food distribution initiative.
This donation comes two weeks after the foundation began distributing one million bags of rice worth N16 billion across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas.
Speaking at the flag-off event at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium on Tuesday, ADF representative Mustapha Umar explained that beneficiaries were selected from the state’s 361 wards across 34 local government areas. He emphasized that the initiative aims to alleviate economic hardship, especially during Ramadan, and to complement government efforts to improve the well-being of citizens.
“This year’s initiative targets over one million vulnerable Nigerians to ease their difficulties amid the country’s economic challenges,” Umar stated. “We have been distributing food supplies across different parts of the country to support people, particularly Muslims, in observing Ramadan with ease.”
He further noted that 94 individuals from each political ward in Katsina would benefit from the donation.
Speaking on behalf of the state government, Hisbah Board Commander Dr. Aminu Usman praised the foundation for its humanitarian efforts, noting that the donation aligns with the government’s free Ramadan feeding program. He urged wealthy individuals to assist the less privileged, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
Some beneficiaries, including physically challenged individuals, expressed gratitude to the foundation for the support. Many had to be wheeled to the venue to collect their 10kg bags of rice.
The distribution exercise was supervised by Katsina State officials, including representatives from the Hisbah Board, the State Community Development Programme, and other stakeholders.
