Kano Internal Security Commissioner Resigns few months after appointment

Kano State Commissioner for Internal Security and Special Services, Major General Muhammad Inuwa Idris (Rtd), has resigned from his position.
The resignation was confirmed in a statement by the spokesperson to the state governor, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has formally accepted the decision and expressed gratitude for the retired general’s contributions during his tenure.
Major General Idris was appointed in August 2024 as the first commissioner of the newly created ministry. During his time in office, he played a significant role in setting up the ministry’s operational framework.
In an official statement, Governor Yusuf praised Idris for his dedication and service to the state. “We appreciate Major General Muhammad Inuwa Idris (Rtd) for his unwavering commitment and contributions to the development of Kano State, from his military career to public service. We wish him a peaceful and fulfilling retirement,” the governor said.
Although no reason was given for his resignation, the governor assured that his successor would continue building on the foundation laid by Idris to ensure the ministry functions effectively.
