I’ll make sure you loose again – Wike fires back at Atiku

Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has declared that he will ensure former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar fails in his future presidential bid.
Speaking through his media aide, Lere Olayinka, Wike stated that he has no regrets about Atiku’s decision to overlook him as his running mate during the 2023 presidential election. His response comes after Atiku, in an interview with Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie, reiterated that he had “no regrets” for not choosing Wike as his vice-presidential candidate.
The dispute between Atiku and Wike dates back to the controversial PDP primaries in 2022, where Wike expected to be compensated with the vice-presidential slot. However, Atiku picked former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa instead. Atiku explained that he had left the decision to a PDP committee, which ranked Okowa as the top choice, with Wike coming second and former Akwa Ibom Governor Udom Emmanuel in third.
Reacting to Atiku’s remarks, Olayinka, in a post on X, insisted that Wike also has no regrets for working against Atiku’s candidacy. “Two years after making the PDP lose a presidential election it could have won, Atiku is still explaining why he didn’t pick Wike. Someone should tell our serial presidential election contender that Wike has no regrets and will make sure he fails again and again,” Olayinka wrote.
