Zelenskyy gives conditions if Russia violates Black Sea deal

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on U.S. President Donald Trump to impose sanctions on Russia and supply weapons to Ukraine if Moscow violates the recently brokered Black Sea deal.

The deal, announced by the United States, includes separate agreements with Ukraine and Russia to ensure safe navigation in the Black Sea and enforce a ban on strikes against energy facilities in both countries.

A White House statement confirmed that both nations had agreed to allow free movement of commercial vessels, refrain from using force, and prevent the use of merchant ships for military purposes.

Reacting to the development, Zelenskyy vowed that Ukraine would honor the agreement but would demand action if Russia failed to comply.

“If the Russians violate this, then I have a direct question for President Trump,” Zelenskyy told reporters in Kyiv.
“If they break the deal, here is the evidence – we ask for sanctions, we ask for weapons,” he added.

Ukraine and Russia have been at war for over three years, with thousands of casualties recorded since Russia’s invasion in 2022.
