Shehu Gabam Declares SDP’s Readiness to Unseat Tinubu in 2027

The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Shehu Gabam, has expressed confidence that his party will unseat President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election. Gabam emphasized that election outcomes are not solely determined by individual brilliance or strategy, asserting that any candidate, including the incumbent, could lose.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Gabam revealed that prominent politicians across the country are defecting to the SDP in large numbers. He noted that the party has been receiving new members daily, including high-profile figures such as former senators and ministers, signaling growing political momentum. His comments come amid reports that former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, recently left the APC to join the SDP.
According to Gabam, his party’s primary goal is to take over the government in 2027. He dismissed the notion that any party has a monopoly on leadership, arguing that the APC’s failure to address the concerns of Nigerians could cost it the next election. He insisted that governance should not be limited to a select few and that Nigeria has an abundance of capable individuals who can provide effective leadership.
Gabam also criticized the current administration, stating that if it had demonstrated competence and efficiency, it would not be making the mistakes currently affecting the country. He maintained that the SDP is determined to offer Nigerians an alternative leadership that prioritizes the welfare of the people.
