Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has approved the promotion and conversion of 2,061 civil servants who participated in the 2024 promotion and conversion exercise in the state.

The decision has been met with excitement among state workers, who have praised the Mbah-led administration for prioritizing their welfare through prompt salary payments, improved working conditions, and capacity-building initiatives.

Speaking on the development, Chairman of the Enugu State Civil Service Commission (ESCSC), Mr. Robison Odo, confirmed the governor’s approval, stating that the affected officers span Grade Level 01 to Grade Level 17.

“The executive governor has given the final approval for the release of the promotion and conversion exercises for 2,061 officers who successfully participated in the 2024 promotion interviews,” Odo said.

He further assured that the commission would swiftly implement the governor’s directive, ensuring that all eligible civil servants receive their rightful promotions and conversions without delay.

Odo commended Governor Mbah for his proactive approach to workers’ welfare, particularly his consistent payment of salaries, pensions, and gratuities since assuming office.

“We appreciate the governor’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of workers in Enugu State. Despite the numerous infrastructural projects his administration is executing, he still approved an ₦80,000 minimum wage in 2024, which surpasses the national minimum wage benchmark,” he stated.

He also reaffirmed the loyalty of Enugu civil servants to the administration’s policies and programs, pledging their continued support and dedication toward achieving the state’s developmental goals.

Odo emphasized the Civil Service Commission’s resolve to maintain discipline, foster innovation, and enhance productivity in the state’s workforce.

“As a commission, we are committed to upholding discipline and promoting creativity within the civil service to enhance efficiency and ensure the success of the government’s programs,” he added.

Governor Peter Mbah’s latest move reflects his administration’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the welfare and productivity of Enugu State’s workforce, positioning the civil service as a key driver of development and good governance.
