EFCC Re-arraigns Ex-NSA Dasuki, Former NNPC Director Over Alleged N33.2bn Arms Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has re-arraigned former National Security Adviser (NSA) Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd) and former Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) General Manager Aminu Baba-Kusa, alongside two firms, Acacia Holdings Limited and Reliance Referral Hospital Limited, before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The case, which was initially handled by Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf before his appointment as FCT Chief Judge, has now been reassigned to Justice Charles Agbaza.

The defendants were first arraigned in 2015 on charges of money laundering and criminal breach of trust involving N13.5 billion. The charges were later expanded to a 32-count indictment covering the alleged misappropriation of N33.2 billion intended for arms procurement to combat Boko Haram insurgency. In a separate case before Justice Yusuf Halilu, Dasuki is also facing trial alongside former Minister of State for Finance Bashir Yuguda, ex-Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Bafarawa, his son, and their company, Dalhatu Investment Limited, over the alleged diversion of N19.4 billion in public funds.

The fresh arraignment comes after prolonged delays, partly due to the Department of State Services (DSS) refusing to release Dasuki on bail despite multiple court orders. The case is being restarted following administrative changes and concerns over judicial workload.
