The Edo State Police Command has intensified efforts to apprehend a man identified as Wealth Nnamdi, who is accused of murdering his pregnant fiancée, Osasu Isaac, and her three-year-old daughter, Miracle, in Benin City. The tragic incident occurred on March 16 following a heated argument between the couple at their residence on Idiangbona Street in Ovbiogoe Community.

According to sources within the community, Nnamdi and Osasu had been in a relationship for over three years, with Nnamdi living with Osasu and her daughter from a previous relationship. Their traditional wedding was scheduled for March 29, 2025, while the church wedding was set for April 6.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the tragedy as heartbreaking, stating that Osasu had been excited about the upcoming wedding and was already pregnant with Nnamdi’s child. The source recounted that while the couple frequently quarreled, no one suspected the dispute would escalate into violence.

“On Sunday, they had a serious argument, but we didn’t think much of it because they usually fought. When the argument stopped, we assumed they had settled. But after two days, a foul smell started coming from their room, and that was when we called the police,” the source said.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Edo State Command, Moses Yamu, stated that officers from the Ekiadolor Division forced the door open after receiving reports of a disturbing odor from concerned neighbors.

The police have since launched a manhunt for Nnamdi, who fled the scene after the crime. Authorities are urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward as investigations continue.
