Edo PDP Faction Threatens to Arrest Caretaker Committee Members Over Alleged Impersonation

The crisis within the Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has deepened as South-South Zonal Vice Chairman, Dan Orbih, threatened to have the state’s caretaker committee members arrested for alleged impersonation.
Speaking at an enlarged meeting of party leaders from all 18 local government areas in Benin City on Tuesday, Orbih, who leads the “legal group” faction of the PDP, claimed that those posing as the party’s caretaker committee members were not recognized by the party’s constitution.
He warned that such individuals must desist from representing themselves as committee members or risk legal action.
“If you are not a soldier but put on a soldier’s uniform and call yourself one, that is impersonation,” Orbih said. “The law is clear, and it must take its course. These individuals are not legitimate members of the Edo PDP Caretaker Committee.”
He further accused former Governor Godwin Obaseki of destroying the party in Edo State, lamenting that the PDP currently has no functional secretariat. To address this, he instructed party leaders to find a suitable office space for the party, pledging to cover the cost of securing a new secretariat.
“The PDP in Edo is in a sorry state. As we speak, the party does not even have a secretariat—it is homeless. I have asked our leaders to find a befitting location, and I will personally pay for it so that we can start rebuilding the party,” he stated.
