Senior Hamas Member, five others killed in Israeli hospital airstrike on Gaza

An Israeli airstrike on a hospital in Gaza has killed five people, including a senior member of Hamas, according to Palestinian medics and officials. The strike, which took place on Sunday, targeted the surgery department at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis.
The Israeli military stated that the attack was based on extensive intelligence and executed with precision-guided munitions to minimize collateral damage. Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, confirmed that the target was Ismail Barhoum, a senior member of Hamas’s political office.
Hamas also acknowledged Barhoum’s death in the strike. However, the Israeli military did not release his name, referring to him only as a key figure within the group.
The attack comes as Israel intensifies its military operations in Gaza, effectively ending a period of relative calm. Since Tuesday, Israeli forces have launched a renewed air and ground offensive against Hamas, leading to fresh waves of displacement among Palestinian civilians.
