The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested pharmacist Ibrahim Yahaya and Dr. Musa Awwal, both staff members of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), for allegedly beating a security guard, Dauda Polmi, to death.
Two other suspects, Imrana Ibrahim and Zakariya’u Isa, were also taken into custody in connection with the incident.
According to police reports, the case is being treated as culpable homicide. Polmi was attacked during an altercation at his workplace and suffered severe injuries. He was rushed to ATBUTH for medical treatment but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The police spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Wakil, confirmed that the dispute started over accusations of theft involving a tenant’s clothing and personal belongings. He stated that all four suspects are now in custody and assisting with the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to conduct a thorough investigation to uncover the full details of the attack. He assured that justice would be served.
Polmi’s body has been deposited at the ATBUTH mortuary for further examination.
