Taraba State set to Automate Revenue Collection, Intensifies Staff Training

The Taraba State Board of Internal Revenue Service, in partnership with I-Tech Platform Limited, has commenced a two-day training program to digitize the state’s revenue collection process. The initiative, launched at the board’s conference hall in Jalingo, is aimed at modernizing tax administration, eliminating inefficiencies, and increasing internally generated revenue (IGR).
Declaring the session open, the board chairman, General Jeremiah Faransa (Rtd.), underscored the necessity of continuous staff training to enhance service delivery. He emphasized that the automation initiative would streamline tax collection, reduce leakages, and align Taraba State with best practices in digital revenue management.
“The essence of this training is to equip our staff with an advanced revenue collection system that makes tax administration seamless and boosts our IGR,” Faransa stated. “Many states have already embraced digitization, and it is time for us to catch up. I urge all participants to take this training seriously and maximize the benefits of this system.”
Commending I-Tech Platform Limited for deploying a robust revenue management system, Faransa expressed confidence that the new framework would improve efficiency and transparency.
Speaking at the event, the CEO of I-Tech Platform Limited, Mr. Iliya Musa, and the CTO, Mr. Joseph Adah Jonathan, introduced the Flopay Revenue Management System, which replaces manual tax collection with a fully automated process.
“The transition from manual to automated revenue collection is crucial in eliminating irregularities and ensuring transparency,” Musa explained. “Flopay offers key features such as unique taxpayer identity generation, automated tax clearance certificates, and real-time assessment tracking.”
Musa urged the state government to take the automation process seriously and implement measures to prevent individuals from undermining the system. He reassured that Flopay is adaptable to meet Taraba’s specific needs.
Board members, Mr. Theophilus Japhet and Mr. Maggai Bala Agyo, hailed the initiative, highlighting its potential to synchronize revenue collection and eliminate financial leakages.
Participants at the training commended the effort, pledging their commitment to ensuring a smooth transition to the automated system, which is expected to significantly improve the state’s revenue generation and financial transparency.
