By Adebayo Waheed
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has constituted a reconciliation committee in Oyo State to re-position the party in the state.
Members of the committee include former Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Chief, Mrs. Jumoke Akinjide; former Deputy Senate Whip, Senator Hosea Agboola and former Chief of Staff to Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, Dr Saka Balogun.
A letter signed by the party’s state coordinator, Dr Muraina Ajibola, and made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Tuesday said the national leadership of the party approved the committee based on the party’s quest for “sincere reconciliation of all PDP members in the state.”
It will be recalled that the party had, since the victory of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led leadership, begun efforts to bring back former governors Rashidi Ladoja, Adebayo Alao-Akala and several other stalwarts who left the party due to one grievance or the other, just as it promised to unite all camps ahead of the 2019 general election.
The committee will be chaired by Dr Balogun, with former Speaker of the state House of Assembly and administrative secretary of the defunct Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the party, Hon. Asimiyu Alarape as secretary, has been saddled with the responsibility of uniting all camps in the party.
Muraina in the letter enjoined the members of the committee to work hard to end all differences so that the party could justify the confidence reposed in it by the people of the state.
