NAPTIN Joins League Of Professional Power Trainers in Africa
BY DOYIN OJOSIPE,
The National Power-Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) has joined the league of professional power trainers in Africa.
This followed the conferment of a Centre of Excellence, (COE) in training for the power sector in Africa on the institute after the assessment of its application by the African Network of Centres of Excellence in Electricity, (ANCEE).
This is even as NAPTIN has been granted admission into the membership of the ANCEE, a pan African initiative led by association of power utilities of Africa, and supported by the African development fund of the African development bank group.
As a member of ANCEE, NAPTIN will henceforth enjoy several benefits, including sharing knowledge and best practices with other COEs in the region; as well as increase its offered courses.
The opportunity will further pitch the country to attract foreign direct investment through training and patronage from other African countries, which enables it to upgrade its training facilities and increase the quality of training in line with international best practices.
As a representative of ANCEE in West Africa, NAPTIN has also been requested by Association of power utilities of Africa, APUA to design selected training programmes for some 42 members of staff of the utility companies in Ghana, and facilitate the training programme for the power utility company of Mali.
