The Kwankwasiyya Development Foundation (KDF), Kano has donated kits and cash worth over N150 million on 1000 amateur football clubs across the 19 northern states.
The chairman of the organizing committee of the empowerment programme, Hon. Nuhu Damburam stated that Kano remains the pilot ground for the programme.. He said: “Our Grand Commander, His Excellency, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has directed that we spread the gesture to other states of the North as soon as we conclude the Kano event today.”
He added that in the next three months, the sports empowerment programme will be spread to across all the states in the country, including Abuja to showcase the magnanimity of Kwankwaso and the passion he has for the game of football and sports development.
“The Kwankwasiyya Development Foundation seeks to engender and promote peaceful coexistence and development for the betterment of socio-economic well being of the common people in our society.
“This empowerment includes one out of many means to achieve the objective of the foundation. The empowerment includes presentation of set of jerseys, balls and cash donations ranging from N50, 000 to N5000.
“This programme is born out of His Excellency’s passion and love for the game of soccer. He recognizes the relevance of the game as a means of livelihood across the globe and as a unifying factor in Nigeria.”
Also speaking during the presentation of the sports kits to the various clubs, the Director-General of the Foundation, Alhaji Surajo Habib Zamfara, urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the kits, adding that, “Senator Kwankwaso decided to reach out to you because of his strong believe in youth development and encouragement to young talents. When you do well with this, the Foundation will always be ready to do even more to support you.”
The President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mr. Pinnick Amaju who was represented by an Executive Board member of NFF, Ibrahim Gusau, commended Senator Kwankwaso for his foresight and contribution to sports development, adding that NFF will always be ready to support any individual, group or corporate organizations that deem it necessary to contribute to sports development in the country.
