Cleric Urges Ganduje To Redeploy Aide
The chairman Kano State Imams Council, Sheikh Fadhalu Dan Almajiri has urged Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to relieve the appointment of his special adviser on religious matters, Ali Baba Fagge or redeploy him to another portfolio.
Speaking shortly after their council meeting yesterday in Kano, Sheikh Fadhalu Dan Al-majiri noted that, the status of Kano State on Islamic religion over centuries in a position of special adviser to the governor on religious matters, need somebody who is islamically balanced.
According to him, “His excellency, the executive governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has been well known towards his un-relented effort to curtail anything that is liable to jeopardize religious harmony in the state. That is why the good citizens of the state called him “Khadimul Islam” which means ‘the chief servant of Islam’. But from all indications if measures is not taking in due time, which is now, his aid on religious matters, Ali Baba Fagge is about to destroy the success recorded so far towards the development of the religion through his utterances.
He asserted that foe long, Islamic Scholars have been calling upon the state governor, during Jumu’at Prayers sermon across the state to reconsider his aid on religious matters, Alhaji Ali Baba Fagge over his unguarded utterances which they said are liable to provoke the good citizens of the state.
“He doesn’t respect our scholars any more. He can go extra mile to say anything about them. The adviser once compared Kannywood movie stars with Islamic scholars, saying that they play the same role in the society.
“This statement was meant to dent the image of the scholars. Our noble Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has directed that scholars should be given respect as they are the inheritors of the Prophets of Almighty Allah.” Sheikh Dan Al-majiri added.
The chief Imam calls on the state governor, as a matter of urgency to either re-appoint the adviser as his aid on cultural dances, Kannywood affairs and alike. Adding that, any one should be appointed on religious matters must be sound and have background on Islamic jurisprudence.
