YENAGOA—THE Robert Sunday Iworiso Foundation in Bayelsa State has earmarked N1 million for the winner of her first essay writing competition scheduled to hold later this month.
The essay writing competition, which is in partnership with Bayelsa State chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA, and the state Ministry of Education is opened to Senior Secondary 3 students from public and private schools across the state.
Addressing newsmen in Yenagoa, Director of the Foundation, Chief Alphonsus Iworiso, said the aim of the compe-tition was to “discover and unleash untapped geniuses from the creeks and farmlands of Bayelsa State on the world.”
In his remarks, Chairman of the organising committee, Mr. Michael Afenfia, said the competition will bring 100 students, 80 students from public schools and 20 from private, to compete for the coveted prize.
He said: “The winner will be celebrated and rewarded openly, because we want to reverse the horrendous poetry that celebrates cultists and criminals above those who are studious and focused on changing the perception of this state.”
